Statement/Biography
My non-traditional florals have a surreal quality. The works are based on layering; some layers let the materials rule, providing a playground for color and texture for my artist-controlled images. Some of my botanic portraits detach and float from the canvas as is they are observers. Some images jump off the canvas with excitement, while still others unfold in various stages of wholeness. My work celebrates the juxtaposition between the ordered chaos of nature and human attempts at control. |
